MNTEA holds rally

 SHILLONG: Firm on their decision to pressurize the state government to meet the demands, the non-teaching staff of the deficit colleges under the banner of the Meghalaya Non Teaching Employees Association (MNTEA) organised a rally at Students’ Field, Jaiaw here on Wednesday.

However, the proposed procession to the State Secretariat did not materialize as permission for the march was denied by the authorities. Following this denial, the members of the association assembled at the ground discussing on the next move to be undertaken.

The association has decided to go for a mass casual leave from Thursday till Saturday and on the last day they will assemble again at Madan Iewrynghep, Fire Brigade to chalk out strategy if the government failed to meet their demands.

“We will continue with the agitation as every time we meet the government officials, we get the same answer which revolve around the pending of funds at the planning and finance department which we think is not true”, assistance general secretary of MNTEA, P Majaw told reporters here on Wednesday..
