SHILLONG: Following the State Government’s decision to waive off the entertainment tax for multiplexes and mini cinema halls, the State’s first digital cinema screen Gold Cinema is all set to be inaugurated in the first week of September.
Co-owner of Gold Cinema, Pankaj Agarwal, on Thursday said the digital cinema hall would be opened for the public in the first week of September and it would be inaugurated by Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma.
The State Government, had, on Wednesday waived off the entertainment tax for cinema halls for a period of five year with an objective to invite more investors in the State to set up cinema halls and multiplexes.
According to Agarwal, the decision to waive off the entertainment tax would open the doors for more firms to launch their multiplexes and cinema halls in the State.
Another firm – Raves Entertainment – is also planning to set up digital cinema halls in different parts of the State.
Gold Cinema, located at the now-renovated Dreamland Cinema Hall complex is a fully air-conditioned 200-seater hall equipped with the latest Dolby 8.1 surround sound and complete push back seats.
Agarwal informed that four movies would be screened daily (11 am, 2 pm, 5 pm and 8 pm) and the price of the tickets would range from Rs 100 to Rs 200.
