Guwahati lawyers association roots for Jan Lokpal Bill

 GUWAHATI:Guwahati Lawyers’ Association (GLA) on Friday while reiterating its support to the anti-corruption movement led by Gandhian leader Anna Hazare demanded that the Government must enact Jan Lokpal Bill bring the all the government offices right from the office of the Prime Minister to those in Panchayat Level to wipe out corruption and also bring back whooping amount of black money stashed away in foreign banks by the corrupt and utilize the same for development of the country.

In a statement issued to the media the GLA demanded setting up of vigilance body to check misuse of government fund besides demanding for a stringent law to wipe out corruption at level in the society. The GLA further welcome Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi’s announcement to bring the office of the chief minister’s under the ambit of State Lokayukta.The GLA members who staged a demonstration in front of the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court here, demanded that the existing Lokayukta Act in the state must be amended to add more teeth to it. It also called upon the government and Team Anna to resolve the crisis over Jan Lokpal Bill through dialogue in an atmosphere of give-and-take and table a strong Jan Lokpal Bill in the current session of Parliament so as to facilitate an end to the fast of Gandhian Anna Hazare.
