LUCKNOW:Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati Friday demanded suitable representation of SCs and OBCs in the final Lokpal Bill drafting committee and in the proposed setup of the Lokpal, an ombudsman to check corruption.

The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) will not compromise on the issue of appropriate representation of Scheduled Castes (SC) and Other Backward Classes (OBC), Mayawati told reporters here.Mayawati emphasized that any bill or institution not fulfilling the constitutional provisions will not get support of BSP in parliament.

She advised activist Anna Hazare who has been fighting for a strong anti-corruption bill to “contest the next Lok Sabha elections in 2014 so that they can form their own government and place the Lokpal of their choice”.

“We believe the bill (Lokpal) must be formally passed and adopted by parliament,” she added.(IANS)
