Two killed in separate incidents in Jaintia Hills

 JOWAI: A person identified as Lalchan Sharma (33) of Dkhiah West succumbed to injuries at Khliehriat CHC where he was admitted along with three others in a critical condition in wee hours Saturday.

Sources informed that at around 3:00 am on Saturday, Lalchan along with his friends in inebriated condition quarelled among themselves at Dkhiah West, Lad-Sutnga area. The three persons were critically injured in the incident and were rushed to Khliehriat CHC. Few hours later, Sharma succumbed to his injuries.

In a similar incident, a person identified as Dhananjou Gogoi of Assam died while he was on his way to hospital after he was alledgedly beaten up by a person suspected to be his fellow coal labourer working ia a coal mine in Kympleng area (near Jaintia Cement) on Saturday evening.

Sources informed that Gogoi was having his drink in one of the local wine stalls when he had a heated argument with a Nepali man, (name unknown) who is his fellow labourer. He was beaten up by the man and injured. Later he was rushed to Khliehriat CHC but died before reaching the health centre.
