Nagaland constitutes Departmental Audit Committee

Kohima: The Commissioner and Secretary to the Government of Nagaland L Kire in a notification on Tuesday said the Government of Nagaland constituted a Departmental Audit and Accounts Committee.

Official sources said here the Departmental Audit and Accounts Committee would review and dispose of Audit Para on monthly basis with immediate effect.

The members in the comittee are Commissioner and Secretary (Power) as Chairman and other members include Chief Engineer (Power), Additional Chief Engineer (Power), Dealing and Disbursing Officer of Chief Engineer’s Office (Power) and Senior Accountant Officer (Power). (UNI)

2 Arrested under IT Act

Kohima: Dimapur police arrested two persons who were found to be circulating obscene MMS in Dimapur town under the IT Act. According to official sources here on Tuesday the victim was a minor girl while one of the accused was also a juvenile. Police received a complaint on August 28 that an obscene MMS of a teenaged girl was being circulated in Dimapur town and arrested two persons in this connection. (UNI)

‘NSCN’ (K) accuses FNR for creating divisions

Kohima: The ‘NSCN’ (Khaplang) accused the Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR) of creating another faction – NSCN (Khole-Kitovi) out of NSCN (K) in the name of Naga reconciliation in spite of the fact that it was Khaplang, Isak and Muivah who first signed the ”covenant of reconciliation”.

In a statement here today, ‘Envoy to the collective leadership’ of ‘NSCN’ (K) Kughalu Mulatonu came down heavily against FNR convener Rev Wati Aier for creating more divisions in Naga society.

Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, he alleged, had been financing the FNR.

He regretted that World Baptist Alliance recently awarded peace award to Rev Wati at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. (UNI)

Assam to undertake first adult vaccination programme

Guwahati: Assam will undertake adult vaccination programme for Japanese Encephalitis (JE) in Sivsagar district later this year on an experimental basis to assess the effectiveness of the vaccines to prevent JE outbreak in the district.

”The JE vaccination for adults in Sivsagar district will start on October 15 and continue for 10 days,” State Health Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sharma said here on Tuesday.

He said it was for the first time in the country that an adult vaccination programme was being undertaken.

”A similar vaccination programme for JE was done in Nepal, which proved successful and since we share similar climatic conditions, we hope it will be successful in our state also,” the minister added. He said the adult vaccination programme would be extended to other JE-prone districts depending on its success in Sivsagar. (UNI)
