HNYF members injured in attack by villagers

 NONGSTOIN: One Taiming Iawphniaw, Asst Organising Secretary of Hynniewtrep National Youth Front was seriously injured and six other members received minor injuries in an attack by the villagers of Ksehkohlong alleging that Iawphniaw along with others were extorting money from coal laden trucks plying from Nongstoin – Shillong road.

Sources inform that the incident took place on Tuesday night where some person claiming to be members of HNYF started demanding a huge amount of money from the truck drivers. When the truck drivers informed the villagers, the angry mob rushed to the place and beaten them up up mercilessly.

Sources informed that HNYF members have started this extortion drive for the past one week and they also demanded 2000to 3000/ from each truck.

HNYF President K.J.Marwein told pressmen on Wednesday in Nongstoin that the checking of overloaded trucks was conducted on August 23rd and the allegations made by the villagers was totally baseless.
