Kohima: The ruling Naga People’s Front (NPF) on Wednesday attacked the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) saying the statements of the Congress on the adoption of the resolutions in Parliament on Lokpal Bill had exposed the ‘double standards’ of the party in Nagaland.

The NPF Press Bureau in a statement here said the Democratic Alliance of Nagaland Government welcomed the adoption of the resolutions in Parliament and appreciated the efforts of Gandhian Anna Hazare and his team and said the Congress in the state seemed to be mocking at Hazare and contradicting its own government at the Centre.

The NPF said the Nagaland Congress leaders would do well to understand that it was only after team Anna had pushed the UPA government against the wall that it took up steps to accede to the demands of Hazare.

It added that resolutions adopted in the Parliament were unanimous and all political parties, cutting across party lines and ideologies, agreed that resolutions should be adopted, and added that it was not a government decision.

It also pointed out that Congress, through its spokesperson Manish Tewari had gone to the extent of calling team Anna ”armchair fascists, over ground Maoists and closet anarchists”.

”It is difficult to understand if the Congress leaders in Nagaland agree with Anna Hazare or whether they are aware of the stand of their own party at the Centre,” said the NPF press bureau and alleged that currently Congress leaders were only making a fool of themselves in the eye of the public.

It suggested that they should join hands to bring about transparency in public life instead of trying to score brownie points and in the process confusing themselves. (UNI)
