‘Govt resorting to false propaganda’

By Our Reporter

Shillong: The Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) has strongly refuted the reports of the death of its “commander-in-chief” Bobby R Marwein in a section of the media, citing the reports as false and unfounded and intended to mislead the public.

In a statement issued here on Friday, HNLC ‘publicity secretary’ Sainkupar Nongtraw claimed that Marwein is fine, secure, healthy and unharmed. He also denied the report that Marwein was involved in any brawl in Bangladesh.

“The Government of India is desperately finding a way to bury the HNLC alive. And this is proved by the false information given out to the media. It is not the first time that the Government had resorted to such unfounded propaganda against HNLC,” he added.

Terming the report as “cheap propaganda”, Nongtraw said, “We don’t indulge in such local affairs to sustain our movement. We maintain respectable distance from any local activities and preserve our identity as revolutionary organisation with a mission”.

“Such motivated report will not weaken or demoralise the HNLC forces,” he said. Addressing HNLC sympathisers, Nongtraw added, “Our chief of army staff (Bobby Marwein) is fine, secure, health and unharmed by your blessing and prayers. We are complete and prosperous.”
