New Delhi: After former IPS officer Kiran Bedi was slapped with a privilege notice, another Team Anna member and noted lawyer Prashant Bhushan received a breach of privilege notice on Saturday.
Bhushan has been slapped with the breach of privilege notice for alleging that MPs take bribes to pass laws.
Bhushan said he has received a breach of privilege notice for his remarks against Parliamentarians.
He has to reply to the notice by September 14.
It has been alleged that Bhushan, while speaking to a TV news channel during the agitation of veteran Gandhian Anna Hazare at Ramlila Maidan for the Jan Lokpal Bill, had said the MPs charge money for making and passing laws in Parliament.
Earlier, Ms Bedi had also received breach of privilege notice for her remarks against Parliamentarians at Ramlila Maidan.
The privilege notice against Ms Bedi came as she accused politicians of wearing “several masks”.
Hazare’s another close aide Arvind Kejriwal was served with a notice by the I-T department on August 5 to pay dues of Rs nine lakh to the government.
He had resigned from the job in Indian Revenue Service in February 2006.
According to the notice, Kejriwal, who spearheaded Mr Hazare’s movement for the Jan Lokpal Bill, violated the service bond conditions and his resignation will only be accepted if he pays the dues.
Coming down heavily on the government for levelling “false charges” against him and other members of the team Anna, Mr Kejriwal has denied that he owes dues of Rs nine lakh for violating job contract norms and said the Income-Tax department was working under political pressure. (UNI)
