SHILLONG:The recent brawl between the NEHU students and unknown miscreants besides leaving four students injured has also left six rangers of NEHU with minor injuries.

“On getting information about the fight, hundreds of students came out and started attacking the rangers without enquiring about the incident”, a source from the university told reporters here on Saturday.

It may be reminded that on Thursday afternoon, four students from the B Tech department were beaten up by unknown miscreants near a football ground at NEHU leaving these students injured.

On seeing this, around five or six rangers reached the spot and defended the injured students but the miscreants managed to flee.

Meanwhile, hundred of students who had reached the spot started beating up these rangers without any enquiry leaving them with minor injuries.

“They were angry that they couldn’t get hold of the miscreants and started pounding on our rangers citing that they (rangers) had failed to perform their duties”, added the source.

A memorandum was submitted to the Pro Vice Chancellor on Friday in this regard.

‘‘The matter is now resolved”, informed the source.
