Lalit Kala Academy official visits Nagaland
Kohima: The Lalit Kala Akademi Regional Centre, Shillong Advisor Dr U S Tiwari has paid a four-day visit to Kohima from September 2 last.
He held discussions with artists of Nagaland and several dignitaries to bring about art promotional programs in the state during the current year. According to official sources here today the then officer was discussing position and development plan of the visual arts in the state with the Director of Art and Culture, which was held on September 3 last at his office chamber. Dr Tiwari agreed on several points in principal to be taken up in collaboration with the Department. (UNI)
Blood donation in Aizawl college scripts record
Aizawl: The National Service Scheme unit of Pachhunga University College here voluntarily donated 425 units of blood to hospitals, breaking its earlier record of 333 units donated in 2008, organisers said.
They said the regional NSS office in Guwahati termed Monday’s collection was a record even for the entire north east in a day by the NSS unit of a college. The blood collected were donated to blood banks of the Civil Hospital Aizawl and the Presbyterian Hospital, Durtlang near here on the occasion of the Teacher’s Day on Monday.
The voluntary blood donors included 90 girl students. Dr Lily Chhakchhuak, officer of the Aizawl Civil Hospital Blood Bank, said the hospital has a good stock of blood as voluntary blood donation soared since June as the month was declared by National AIDS Control Organisation as the ‘Month of Voluntary Blood Donation’. Women body extend support to Women Reservation
Kohima: Watsu Mungdang, the apex Ao women organisations, has extended ‘full support’ to the Action Committee’s demand for immediate implementation of Women Reservation Bill as submitted to the state government on June 1.
In a statement here on Tuesday, the organistaion said reservation is the constitutional rights of the women, adding violation of which was the violation of Human Rights. (UNI)
