SHILLONG: The PW Ingty-led inquiry commission constituted by the State Government to probe into the alleged ‘secret killings’ of civilians by ANVC, will seek the help of the Forensic department and other agencies if need arises, it was confirmed on Wednesday.

Informing this, Commissioner of Division, East, West and South Garo Hills, PW Ingty said the groundwork of the inquiry – which is going to be a comprehensive one – has already started.

“If need arises, we may even seek help of the Forensic department and outside agencies,” said Ingty when asked if there would be any need of such help during the course of the inquiry. The inquiry report to be submitted to the State Government within a month’s time will try and find out whether the allegations by GNLA had any basis.

The inquiry will also be assisted by the deputy commissioners and superintendents of police of the three districts of Garo Hills. Besides, the public will also be allowed to put in their views, inputs and facts and figures to help the inquiry committee.

Meanwhile, Sanjay Goyal, DC, West Garo Hills said, “As per the direction of the Commissioner we have been asked to detail an ADM for the inquiry, which we have done,” while adding that the ADM is supposed to begin work immediately.
