Agartala: Banned militant outfit National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) has kidnapped two tribals at gunpoint from remote Jatindra Roajapara in Dhalai district.

Police said the extremists had issued extortion notices to the villagers a few days ago, setting last week as a deadline for payment but it did not reach them, which irked the militants.

The victims were identified as Birkumar Reang (27) and Pranay Tripura (12).

According to a report, Bhuban Tripura, father of Pranay, was an amateur doctor and Birkumar Reang went to him with his wife who had been suffering from critical diseases to avail of medical assistance from the vaidya.

The NLFT gang stormed the house of Bhuban Tripura during night. The doctor fled away but Pranay and Birkumar were abducted, the report added. (UNI)
