29 militants lay down arms in Manipur

Imphal: Altogether 29 cadres of various militant groups gave up arms at Leimakhong, headquarters of 57 Mountain Division here on Thursday.

In a ceremony, Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order), V Jathang, alongwith Major General Binoy Poonnen, General Officer Commanding, Red Shield Division, and senior army officials accepted the arms presented by the cadres.

The decision of these cadres, which included seven cadres of NSCN (Khole), six Cadres of NSCN (K), seven Cadres of Federal Government of Nagaland, three cadres of Peoples United Liberation Front, two cadres each of United National Liberation Front and Naga National Council and one cadre each of NSCN (IM) and Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup to give up arms, was facilitated by troops of the Red Shield Division. The Additional DGP welcomed them into the mainstream of life and on behalf of the government, assured them and their families an honourable rehabilitation. (UNI)
