Itanagar: An all party meet held on September eight has appreciated the steps taken by the government to end stalemate arising out of a report in a national daily on May 4 last which had a communal overtone hurting the sentiments of the Nyishi community.
The meeting attended by members of the Congress party, PPA, Trinamool Congress, Arunachal Congress and NCP has unanimously appealed to the leaders of the All Nyishi Students’ Union (ANSU) and its supporters to abstain from resorting to violence during bandh calls, demonstration and others.
A report in a leading english daily on May 4 last had undermined the Nyishi community, which is a major tribe of the state, for not having a good rapport with other tribes of the state of Arunachal Pradesh.
The meeting also decided that the youths are the greatest assets of the society and should also respect the sentiments of the people as bandh calls have been found to have affected the lives of individuals, business community and the daily wagers to a large extent.
The government spokesman Tako Dabi talking to media here on Saturday said the case was such that it attracts breach of privilege and sub-judice in terms of parliamentary and judiciary systems.
”Since the case is in the court of law, the government is being considered to be committing breach of privilege in terms of parliamentary system and also it is a case of sub-judice,” he opined.
The government has been trying its best to resolve the issue time and again by facilitating different types of platforms, he added.
The government spokesman further said that the issue should not jeopardise the state’s economy and development activity but expressed confidence that the Nyishi Elite Society (NES), the All Nyishi Students’ Union (ANSU) or other civil organizations will appreciate the government’s endeavour to find a solution.
The government further appealed to all concerned to change their mindset on further bandh calls, agitations, rallies etc in the larger interest of the people. (UNI)
