 SHILLONG: The NSS St.Edmund’s College is organising a special camp with the theme ‘Healthy Youth for a Healthy India’ at Mylliem Marbaniang & Baniun Villages from the 1st to 7th October 2011.

About 40 volunteers including teachers and programme officers will conduct awareness programmes on issues of Health, Sanitation, Environment besides conducting Participatory Rural Appraisal, Social Mapping and Socio-Economic survey.

The camp will also include Free Medical and Eye Check up Camp, School Competition and Cleaning Drive. Dr.D.R.Thangkhiew, Vice Principal of the college will be the Chief Guest.

Meanwhile, NSS Volunteers of Government Boys’ HS School, here together with students and teaching community of the school organized a one day cleanliness drive on September 30 in and around the school campus to observe the ensuing Gandhi Jayanti.

Around 950 participants took part in the cleaning drive which was initiated by the Principal, School Staff and NSS Unit.
