BANGALORE: A heavy downpour forced the Champions League T20 group ‘B’ contest between Somerset and South Australia Redbacks to be abandoned without a single ball being bowled at the Chinnaswamy stadium on Saturday.

The heavy showers, which came soon after Redbacks won the toss and opted to field, left the ground in unfit for play, forcing match referee Roshan Mahanama to call off the tie.

The contest became the first game to be abandoned in all the three editions of the tournament without a ball being bowled.

Somerset and Redbacks both have three points apiece. (PTI)
