Islamabad: A US embassy warehouse was sealed as it was built without taking approval, a Pakistani media report said Saturday.

“It was a warehouse of the US embassy which was established a few months ago for storage facility,” US embassy spokesman Mark Stroh told Dawn.

He said the warehouse had been set up to store some furniture and other goods.

Stroh dismissed a perception that the warehouse was being used for some covert US mission.

The sealing took place as the ties between the US and Pakistan deteriorated following an accusation that the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) was supporting the Haqqani Network.

Sources said the warehouse, covering about 25,000 square feet, was in violation of rules.

“We went to the warehouse on complaint of some residents of the sector and sealed the building as it was being constructed without approval…,” an official said. (IANS)
