SHILLONG: One person died while other two others received serious injuries when a mob assaulted three people at Sohra on Monday morning on charges of being involved in the practice of men-ai-ksuid (black magic). The three victims, who were visiting Sohra for their personal work, were attacked without provocation by the mob who accusing them of indulging in black magic. The deceased person has been identified as Warless Nongrum (33) while the two injured persons were identified as Rokes Nongkynrih (22) and Bashem Rynjah (30).
The SDPO Sohra, Herbert Lyngdoh informed that police were yet to record the statement of the two injured person as they were badly injured.
“We have started our investigation into the matter,” he added.
The injured persons have been shifted to Shillong Civil Hospital for treatment.
