4 militants surrender

Imphal: Four militants of outlawed United Peoples Party of Kangleipak (UPPK) surrndered with arms to Manipur Chief Minister O. Obobi Singh this afternoon, official sources said.

The deposited weapons are ‘HK 3’ rifles, one ‘I k’ rifle and 260 rounds of ammunation.

The four also handed over the ammunition with them to the security officials present before the CM. (PTI)

Two Bangladeshi natls arrested

Agartala: Two Bangladeshi nationals were arrested from a park at Khowai in West Tripura district on Tuesday on charges of illegally entering Tripura, police said.

They were identified as Dulal Miah (20) and Riazudeding (21) of Chunarughat and Basantapur villages of Haboganj district in Bangladesh. (PTI)

 Minister visits hospital

Morigaon: Disciplinary action was on Tuesday initiated against three doctors who were found absent during a visit by Health Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Paying a surprise visit to the Morigaon Civil Hospital for a first hand knowledge of its functioning, Sarma found three senior doctors there to be absent unauthorisedly, the minister told reporters. Refusing to divulge the doctors’ names, he said disciplinary action was being initiated against the three.

The minister said the three were also practising in private hospitals and pharmacies. Action would also be taken on the private hospitals and pharmacies engaging the doctors, he said. (UNI)
