14 die in Baghdad bombings

Baghdad: At least 14 people were killed and 59 wounded in car bomb attacks in Baghdad Wednesday, authorities said.

The first attack occurred at about 8.20 a.m. when a suicide bomber drove his explosives-laden car into the entrance of al-Elwiyah police station in Baghdad’s central district of Karrada, killing four policemen and a civilian.

The second attack occurred almost simultaneously when a suicide bomber rammed his car packed with explosives into the checkpoint of another police station in Baghdad’s northwestern district of al- Hurriyah, killing three policemen and three civilians. A total of 59 people, including policemen, were wounded in the three attacks. (IANS)
