Court issues notice to Delhi government on child labour
NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court Wednesday issued notice to the Delhi government, seeking its response to a report that children below 14 years were employed in various trial court complexes.The division bench of acting Chief Justice A.K. Sikri and Justice Siddharth Mridul sought the reply from the Delhi government’s labour department after taking suo moto notice of the media report.”The government should make their stand clear by Nov 3,” said the court.The report pointed out that children below 14 could be found working as tea vendors, aides to notary public and food vendors in and around Tis Hazari, Patiala House, Rohini, Dwarka, Karkardooma and the Saket court complexes.The report alleged that young children had been employed in violation of the high court’s previous order, imposing a complete ban on child labour in the capital. Uma roots for Advani as PM
VARANASI: Senior BJP leader Uma Bharti on Thursday sparked off another round of debate within the Bharatiya Janata Party when she said that L K Adavni would be the prime minister if party gets majority in the Lok Sabha next time.”Mr Advani is the most suitable and the senior-most candidate for the PM post in the party at the moment,” she said while addressing a meeting at the time of flagging off the ‘Jan Swabhiman Yatra’ of Kalraj Mishra by Mr Advani at Bharat Mata Mandir here.Ms Bharti minced no words in her address saying the veteran leader had all the ingredients of becoming the Prime Minister. She also reminded that it was Mr Advani who had suggested the name of Mr Atal Behari Vajpayee for the PM post when BJP was in the power at the Centre.Going a step further, she recalled how the late V P Singh had become Prime minister after coming to Kashi Vishwanath temple here after leaving the Congress over Bofors scam. Modi to observe daylong fast in Dwarka
RAJKOT: Close on the heels of his 72-hour Sadbhavna fast last month, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi will observe a daylong fast in the second leg in Dwarka town of Jamnagar district on October 16.The Chief Minister, as announced by him earlier, is to hold a daylong fasts in every district of Gujarat, beginning with Jamnagar, which would be a huge affair.Nineteen committees have been formed to look after various arrangements from transportation to live telecast of the event. Jamnagar district collector Sandeep Kupar is supervising the arrangements of the mega event.Heavy police force will be deployed at the venue to avoid any eventuality.There will be exhibition on development of the district and state displayed at the venue for the people, official sources said.Various religious leaders are expected to attend the Modi’s fast at Dwarka, with a aim to spread the Chief Minister’s message of peace, harmony and brotherhood in Gujarat.Venue of the fast is an open ground, behind the Dwarka circuit house, adjacent to the sea shore.(UNI)
