State emerges second runners-up

Rock Climbing Competition

 SHILLONG: Meghalaya, with one gold, two silver and five bronze medals emerged the second runners-up at the recently concluded 13th North East Zone Sports Climbing Competition in Imphal.

Hosts Manipur were the overall champions with a whooping 13 golds, nine silvers and six bronze medals.

For Meghalaya, Lakitbok Lyngdoh won a Gold and Silver each in men’s bouldering and lead climbing events.

Hakadaembok Sungoh won a Silver in the lead climbing event (sub junior girls), while Bakordor Umsong claimed the third spot in both bouldering and speed climbing events.

Ngandarihun Sohshang won a Bronze each in the women’s speed and lead climbing events while Kayleigh P Nongkynrih won Bronze in the women’s bouldering event.

The above winners will also represent the State in the upcoming 17th National Sport Climbing Competition at Indian Mountaineering Foundation campus in New Delhi from November 2-6.
