SHILLONG: The KHADC has decided to extend the deadline for submitting the views and suggestion on the draft of the proposed Village Administration Bill by another three months.

“We have decided to extend the deadline following requests by the various traditional institutions. Since it is a very crucial legislation we feel it is important to given more time to the stakeholders and the general public to submit their suggestion and views,” KHADC CEM Pynshngain N Syiem told The Shillong Times on Thursday.

The KHADC had initially fixed an October12 deadline for submitting of the views and suggestion.

Syiem added that the Council would need more time to compile the views and suggestion since those which are submitted in Khasi language would have to be translated.

Syiem also informed that the proposed Bill would be tabled during the Budget session next year instead of the Winter Session as was planned earlier.

The extension of the deadline came after the Hima Mylliem (Mylliem Syiemship) had requested the KHADC to grant them additional time to study and examine the draft Bill so that they could submit their opinion and suggestions.
