General meeting
The Seng Nongjri Shillong will hold its 48th general meeting cum social meet on October 22 at Khasi National Durbar Hall at Mawkhar.. Awards will also be given to the students of Nongjri who secured the highest total marks in various exams.
Repairing works
The SP (City) M Kharkrang has informed that the PWD is carrying out repairing works between Mawlai and Umiam and as the stretch will be closed one way. Traffic police will be deployed to regulate the traffic but people are asked to cooperate.
World food day
The Krishi Vigyan Kendra, East Khasi Hills district organised a programme on October 17 at the Farm Science Centre to celebrate the world food day which was attended by 80 farmers from all over the state.
YMCA meeting
The annual general body meeting of the Shillong YMCA will now be held on Tuesday at 4.30pm at Presbyterian Church of India (PCI) conference hall at Lower Lachumiere.
Campaign Dates
The Additional Deputy Commissioner (Election) has informed all Booth Level Officers to be present on October 22 from 10am in their respective polling stations and ensure that all the forms—form 6, 7 and 8A are in sufficient number for use by the claimants.
Annual Centre Convention
The Penticostal Mission will be conducting the Annual Centre Convention at Umkaliar on October 20, 21 and 22.
Indian youth delegation to China
The NSS Volunteers of Shillong College, Shaining Kharbuli and Nasima Begum Choudhury represented the country as Indian Youth Delegation to China at the India-China Cultural and Traditional Exchange Programme 2011 held recently at Beijing China from September 20-29. Altogether 500 delegates from India attended the programme.
Inauguration
The Women’s Hostel (Mamma Margaret Hall) of St Anthony’s College will be inaugurated by Union Minister of DoNER, Paban Singh Ghatowar in the premises of the college at 3pm on Tuesday.
Durbar Shnong Mawklot
The foundation stone of community hall cum training centre will be laid by Union Minister of State Ministry of water Recourses, Vincent H Pala who will also felicitate the excellent students at Mawklot Upper Shillong at 3pm on Tuesday.
