Agartala: After Guwahati, Tripura capital, Agartala, is going to become as second IT hub in the Northeast. The Tripura Industrial Development Corporation Ltd (TIDC) has already received an outlay of Rs Rs. 37 crore for construction of building for IT hub.

“The central government has recently sanctioned us Rs. 37 crore for construction of the building for setting up the IT hub here”, said Chairman of Tripura Industrial Development Corporation Ltd (TIDC), Pabitra Kar here on Wednesday.

“Many IT companies like Wipro and IBM have already showed interests to set up their IT base in the proposed building. The building would be completed within two and half years time from now, Kar said.

The Avon Technology Pvt Ltd was awarded the work to construct a six-storied IT friendly building which will be on the form of G-five. The construction work will begin from next month.

“The local IT educated youth will immensely be benefited if the proposed IT hub is established”, Kar said.

Currently, a sizable number of IT educated students go to outside the state in search of jobs in the field of IT due to lack of opportunity. This trend may be ended with the setting up of a stat-of-art IT hub, according to the TIDC chairman. —— (over)
