Man kills nephew, injures niece

 SHILLONG: In a shocking incident, one Kyrshan Sing Swer killed his six-year-old nephew Wellborn Swer by stabbing him with a knife at Laitsohkhiah village near Sohra in the wee hours on Wednesday.

According to police, the accused also attacked his 14-year-old niece Mary Queen Swer who sustained serious injuries.

Police informed that the accused had come to stay with the victims’ family on Tuesday.

At night he suddenly woke up from his bed, took the knife and then stabbed his nephew. After this, Kyrshan attacked his niece, police said.

Family members rushed the two children to hospital. The boy succumbed to his injuries before reaching the hospital while the girl, who was seriously injured, is currently undergoing treatment at the Shillong Civil Hospital.

Police later arrested the accused.

Meanwhile, police have claimed that there are strong indications that the accused is not mentally sound.
