BANGALORE: As former Karnata chief minister B.S. Yeddyurappa spent his first full day in prison Wednesday in connection with illegal land deals, one more such case was filed against him with state Home Minister R. Ashoka as the prime accused.

Further trouble also appeared in store for the former chief minister as another petition seeking cancellation of bail for his two sons and son-in-law in two cases in which he is in jail was filed in the Karnataka High Court by a city resident.

The special Lokayukta court Judge N.K. Sudhindra Rao, who Saturday denied bail to Yeddyurappa and sent him to judicial custody till Oct 22, will Thursday hear the petition against Ashoka and Yeddyurappa.

The two have been accused of causing Rs.50 crore loss to the state by illegally denotifying government in Lottegollahalli in north Bangalore when Yeddyurappa was the chief minister.

Rao had Saturday sent Yeddyurappa and former Muzrai (endowments) minister S.N. Krishnaiah Shetty to jail in the two cases.

He had, however, granted to bail to 14 other accused, including the former chief minister’s two sons B.Y. Raghavendra and B.Y. Vijayendra, son-in-law R. Sohan Kumar and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislator Hemachandra Sagar.

Raghavendra is BJP Lok Sabha member from Shimoga, about 280 kms from here.

Justice B.V. Pinto of the high court will Thursday hear Yeddyurappa’s bail plea, moved Monday, and also the petition to cancel the bail of his kin and Hemachandra Sagar.(IANS)
