JOWAI: Jowai Police arrested one Kwit Muksor, a father of four children, hailing from Dulong Poh-hali Jowai for allegedly raping a 8-year-old girl.
The allegedly rapist was first apprehended by the Dorbar Shnong and later handed over to Jowai Police at around 11:30 pm on Thursday.
Sources informed that Kwit, who lived in a rented house at Dulon Poh-hali, raped the minor a week back.
Two arrested on theft charge: Ladrymbai Police on Thursday arrested two persons from Suchen village for their allegedly involvement in a theft case.
The duo was identified as Shillang Massar (20) and Marlin Massar (18) of Suchen village in Jaintia Hills district.
Sources informed that the MeECL officials had lodged a complaint against unknown miscreants for stealing electrical materials from the Leshka Hydro Electric Power project site two weeks ago. Electrical materials including copper wires and many others were found stolen from the project site.
Ladrymbai Police who were investigating the case, arrested the duo based on a tip-off.
