AIZAWL:Mizoram government would extend all possible aid to the Hmar refugees from Dima Hasao district of Assam who were taking shelter in the homes of their relatives in Mizoram, state chief secretary Van Hela Pachuau on Friday said.Almost 200 people belonging to the Hmar community fled and came to Mizoram-Assam border Bairabi town, the only rail link in the state, by train from Dima Hatao district after ethnic clashes between Dimasas and non-Dimasas.
Pachuau said that relief aids like food and blankets would be provided to the refugees.
“We have instructed district administration officials of the Kolasib district not to enroll the refugees in the electoral rolls and also not to be include them in the lists of beneficiaries under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS),” he said.(PTI)
