AMKA technical director Stephan Leong passes away

 SHILLONG: All Meghalaya Karate-Do Association (AMKA) technical director I Stephan Leong passed away on Sunday after prolonged illness. Leong (52) has been the guiding force in scouting many budding young talent in the field of Karate. Leong groomed state prominent karatekas like Linza Fenny Syiem and Damang Syngkon who made it big at the international stage. Leong was also closely associated with various State Sports Associations like Meghalaya State Olympic Association and Meghalaya Weightlifting Association. With his demise, the State has lost a person who made tremendous contribution towards the development of sports especially making karate popular in the State. Leong would be laid to rest at Chinese cemetery,Them Mawbah on Tuesday.
