 SHILLONG: With a view to increase the capacity building programme for urban planners, engineers, architects an Urban Risk Reduction (URR) Project of the Government of India and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has been implemented at the city level with an aim to reduce the impact and facilitate effective response in case of any emergency, informed the DC, East Khasi Hills District.

It may be mentioned that disaster management is one of the important subject in the present day context and as Meghalaya lies on Zone 5 in the seismic zone which is vulnerable to earthquake, such capacity building programme is vitally important.

The programme will be held on November 1-2 at Assembly Hotel from 10:30am onwards.
