Guwahati: Screening of short films from Shamiana, a short film club from Mumbai, for the second consecutive time started at Parijat Academy, a school for underprivileged students, here on Tuesday.
The screening is being done under Spirit Underground & Creovaent Productions’ initiative of making short films popular and easily accessible to the students as a part of Creovaent Educational Initiative.
The screening for Guwahati University students also happens every month, a release informed.
The screening of short films began with the collaboration of Creovaent Productions and Shamiana in August this year.
The initiative has been supported by Spirit Underground.
“We are planning to expand in all major educational institutions within this year to spread the culture of short films in North-East India. Right now, we have around 50 regular members who attend our monthly screenings and apart from that, we are doing special screening at Guwahati University regularly and Parijat Academy,” said Prithish Chakraborty, Founder of Guwahati International Short Film Festival and co-owner of Creovaent Productions.
Speaking on the initiative, Uttam Teron of Parijat Academy said, “It feels happy that my students are getting exposure to new area of short films and we fully support the initiative taken by Creovaent Productions. We are looking forward for the special workshops that Creovaent Productions will do with our students related to filmmaking.”
The format of the screening is monthly and the films include two international short films, two national short films and one local short film from a North-East filmmaker, the release added. (UNI)
