SHILLONG: Dr DK Parida, Associate Professor, Oncology at NEIGRIHMS, has denied that he has written any letters to any Union Minister.

He termed the report as totally wrong, misconceived and baseless.

“I have the highest regard for women. The State of Meghalaya is able to maintain the tradition of being a matrilineal society, which is exemplary in the whole country,” Dr Parida said in a clarification on Thursday while adding that no one can make such degrading statements against any woman.

The oncologist said that somebody was intentionally trying to tarnish his image because he had approached the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) for implementation of the recruitment rules approved by the Governing Council of NEIGRIHMS.

“I have already written to the NEIGRIHMS director Dr ME Yeolekar regarding the matter and denied these baseless allegations,” he said.

Meanwhile, the CSWO demanded an immediate inquiry into the allegations made by the two doctors — Dr DK Parida and Dr PB Bhattacharya, that women from the State of Meghalaya are offering bribe and sexual favours to get jobs in NEIGRIHMS.

“This accusation is very serious and tarnishes the image of every woman in the State and an instant independent inquiry is needed, to bring out the facts of such damaging allegations,” CSWO president Agnes Kharshiing said in a statement.
