JOWAI: “Parents play an important role in their children’s education,” said Meghalaya Assembly Speaker Charles Pyngrope.
Pyngrope was speaking at the Parents’ Day celebration of the Unitarian Secondary School, Puriang, East Khasi Hills, on Thursday.
He also spoke on the importance of computer education.
Referring to rise in number drop-out cases, Pyngrope, an MLA from Sohryngkham constituency, urged the teaching community to take an extra care to ensure that students complete their studies.
He appreciated the managing committee of the school and the Unitarian church at Puriang for rendering a valuable service to the community.
The Unitarian Secondary School caters to the need of more than five villages of the area.
The students of the school presented cultural programmes on the occasion.
The meeting, which was chaired by Rev. H.H.Mohmen, was also addressed among others by David Nongrum, A Kharlukhi Sordar of Puriang, M.Marboh Chairman SMC.
