Kohima: Founding Director of Tiny-Tech India Limited V K Desai has stressed on the need to promote Mahatma Gandhi’s policy of promoting the small scale industries to uplift the rural economy and said the pre-condition for a happy society is that all machineries of the production of primary needs of the people must be in the hands of common masses.

Talking to mediapersons at Dimapur on Friday, Mr Desai, who is on a tour to the north east, disclosed he had developed a 10kw power plant in Jharkhand to be used for supplying power to an oil mill during the day and at night to light the entire village.

He said the present industrial progress was associated with poverty unemployment, disparity, exploitation, urbanisation, pollution, displacement of poor people, and making life more complex. (UNI)
