EAC wins Air Force golf tourney

 SHILLONG: Eastern Air Command (EAC) won the team event while Shillong Club emerged runners up in the 5th Air Force Golf Tournament which concluded at the Shillong Golf Course here on Sunday.

A total of 140 golfers from the Army, Air Force, BSF, Shillong Golf Club and eminent civil dignitaries including seven children and ten women golfers participated in the two day event.

Master Ankit Joshi was the winner in the children’s category while Suzie Syiem and Jyoti Aggarwal won in the ladies category.

In men’s category Rahul Bajaj won the best nett while the best gross was bagged by Prakash Pathaw

Victor Macwailne won the longest drive, closet to the centre line was won by Issac Marak and nearest to the pin was won by Wg Cdr Nathani.

Speaking to media persons after the event, AOC-in-C Headquarters Eastern Air Command Air Marshal S Varthaman said the event was organised with an aim to be a part of the city while encouraging sports activities within the men in uniform.

A special stall was also set up during the event to promote awareness about Indian Air Force as a career option for the youth of the State in which publicity materials was distributed free of cost.
