SHILLONG: Following his team’s narrow defeat to Sporting Clube de Goa in a thrilling encounter on Monday, Shillong Lajong FC coach Pradyum Reddy blamed the team’s poor defence for the loss.

“We need to fix a few things in our defence. Three goals are enough to win two I-League matches. Statistics say our defence has done well but today’s match tells quite a different story,” Reddy said over phone to The Shillong Times.

The Lajong coach was especially disappointed with the two quick goals conceded by his boys in the second half. “You cannot gift goals to teams like Sporting,” he said.

Reddy, however, was all praise for his players for putting up a good show despite the team’s hectic schedule. “Having reached here only on Sunday afternoon, we hardly had the time to practice or get used to the pitch. Considering that, the boys have done exceptionally well,” he added.

Reddy was also happy that the team had ‘put on its scoring shoes’.
