SHILLONG: Joining the growing chorus, the Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) has also urged the organizers of the ensuing Autumn Festival to conclude the celebration on any other day and no such celebration be held on a Sunday.

“Though the Congress party being the party which leads the Government at the State and Centre declares that the country is secular, yet it has great respect for all religions particularly of the minority communities.

Therefore, Meghalaya being a State in which a majority of the people is Christians, any such celebrations which hurt the sentiments of the Christians should not be held,” said Dr Lyngdoh.
