Four road projets launched in Jaintia Hills

 JOWAI: Minister in charge Public Works Department (PWD) launched four major road projects in Jaintia Hills district. The foundation stone laying ceremony was held at the premises of PWD Inspection Bungalow, Nartiang on Monday.

Parliamentary Secretary in charge PWD Roads, Sniawbhalang Dhar who presided over the meeting informed that all project roads were centrally sponsored under Special Plan Assistant, Ministry of Tribal Affairs and also by the North Eastern Council.

The Centre has sanctioned Rs. 67.36 crore for improvement and upgradation of Jowai-Nartiang Road, Rs. 14.49 crore for the construction and improvement including metalling and blacktopping of Mukhla Shohshrieh-Myrjai Mupliang road including a major bridge, Rs. 16.22 crore for improvement including blacktopping of Nartiang-Khyndawso road (section of Nartiang-Nongpoh Road) and Rs. 13.81 crore for the improvement, metaling and blacktopping of Pasyih – Mynso Mookynshain Road.

People of the area will be greatly benefited with the road projects, Dhar said.

Speaking as the chief guest, Lyngdoh said road connectivity is the main problem being faced by the people of the state.

The road schemes were launched in the presence of parliamentary secretary in charge PWD, Sniawbhalang Dkhar, local MLA ECB Bamon, chief engineer, PWD (Rds) NH Division, S. Chyrmang, Superintending Engineer, Jowai Circle, PR Marwein and other PWD officials.
