State Govt ups ex-gratia payment for cops

 SHILLONG: The State government has enhanced the ex gratia relief for the family of those cops who sacrifice their lives on duty to Rs 7.5 lakh from the existing Rs 5 lakh.

The decision to this effect was taken at a review meeting held here on Tuesday.

Informing this here on Tuesday, the State DGP N Ramachandran said, “From now onwards, the widows and kin of the deceased cop will draw salaries and allowances till the actual date of his retirement.

“The Government will ensure that the families of the deceased cops are not subjected to financial hardship,” Ramachandran said.
