SHILLONG: Synjuk Ki Rangbah Shnong (Umsning Block) has expressed their resentment that only 19 youths from the whole Ri-Bhoi district were selected to the Meghalaya Police 6th Battalion the result of which was announced Saturday last.

The Synjuk which consists of Rangbah Shnongs of 263 villages has even threatened not to give the the land identified in Ri-Bhoi district for setting up of the police 6th battalion headquarter to the government

“We are very upset that only 19 youths from the whole district have been selected out of the total 860 vacancies in the new police battalion. ” SKRS publicity secretary GK Kharbithai said in statement on Tuesday.

While suspecting some foul play in the recruitment process to the various vacancies of the police 6th battalion, he said that it is not possible that only this number of youths from the district would hve been selected if the recruitment was a fair one.

“We are of the view that this is a step motherly treatment to the youths of the district,” he said.

He said that the Synjuk would not allow the Government to acquire the land somewhere at Nongpoh for setting up of the headquarter of the 6th battalion.
