Umiam pipe leakage probe

SHILLONG: Power Minister AT Mondal has directed officials of his department to investigate into the reports of huge leakage in the penstock (regulator) pipe through which the water reaches the turbine of the Umiam Stage I power house. Mondal also said that he would soon inspect the pipelines where the leakage has been reported, and take necessary actions accordingly. Hydro-electric officials, on the other hand, sought to dismiss all concerns over the leaking pipes, saying that such leakages were common in pipes.
