Seminar

The year-long celebration of the International Year of Chemistry and 70 years of the Department of Chemistry, St Anthony’s College concluded with an inter-college students’ chemistry seminar held on the college premises in city on Friday. Head of the Chemistry Department, NEHU, Prof B Marboh spoke at length on the importance of chemistry.

Exhibition

The Tantavi, a tribute to traditional handloom weavers will organise an exhibition and buyers-seller meet at MRBS Auditorium, Asom Kristi Kendra at Dhankheti here at 2.30pm on Saturday.

Prohibition

As per the order under section 144 Cr. P.C, the Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills, J Lyngdoh has prohibited the plying of loaded trucks from Mawmaram via Nongthliew and Mawmih upto Mawlyndep which is under construction by the PWD authorities to avoid obstruction and damages and for public safety and interest.

New committee

The working committee of the Raid Laban Dorbar has elected new office bearers for the term of 3 years. The new committee includes Ioster Sun (president), KF Rngad (vice president), Banri Kupar Wahlang as the general secretary, Anthony Lyngdoh as the assistant general secretary and WR Lyngdoh as the treasurer.

Idd-Ul-Azha

The muslims of Shillong will be celebrating the Idd-Ul-Azha prayer at Laban, Eid-Gah Shillong on Monday. The congregational prayer will be led by Maulana Imran Jyrwa Sb, of Madina Mosque Eid-Gah Laban.

Symphony

The Border Security Force in collaboration with the North Central Zone Cultural Centre, Allahabad and North East Cultural Centre, Dimapur (Ministry of Culture, Government of India) is organising Desert Symphony and Uttarayan, a cultural show of North at open Convocation Shed, NEHU campus on Sunday from 6pm.

Foundation Stone

The Foundation Stone of the Outdoor Stadium of Madan Laban Sports and Cultural Club at Madan Laban field sanctioned under SUPW MLA Scheme will be laid at 1pm on Saturday at Madan Laban field near Community Hall.

IAF letter
