SHILLONG: State Urban Affairs Minister, Ampareen Lyngdoh, has said that the ongoing dispute over the boundary of the old office premises of the Shillong Municipal Board (SMB) has affected the construction of the new office-cum-shopping complex.

“There are five pending cases in the Shillong Bench of the Gauhati High Court filed by the owners of those shops located near the boundary wall of the SMB premises in Jail Road,” Ampareen said on Friday.

She said that these shop owners were opposed to the ongoing construction work going on at the SMB premises.

“Since the matter is pending in the court, the contractor is engaged in construction only in other areas of the premises and avoiding any construction in those areas under dispute.

“We are hopeful that the court would issue its verdict early so that there is no delay in implementing the project,” Ampareen said.
