ITANAGAR: Two government offices and four buses of the state transport department were set ablaze by unidentified persons here on Friday, police said.

Three buses were completely gutted and another partially damaged when some persons set fire to the vehicles parked inside the terminus in the wee hours, they said.

In two other incidents, some persons set fire to the PWD superintendent engineer’s offices in Mowb-II and Naharlagun areas here on Friday morning.

While the office at Mowb-II was gutted, the other at Naharlagun was partially damaged, police said.

“Three fire tenders were pressed into service to douse the blaze,” said Itanagar SP Alok Kumar.

Meanwhile, prohibitory order under 144 CrPC at the Capital Complex, which was promulgated from October 12 till Friday , has been extended to November 19.

The prohibitory order was given following clashes between two groups here.

Capital complex magistrate Onit Panyang said that as per the order, no person should carry any lethal weapon like fire arms, lathis and explosives materials within the Capital Complex during the entire prohibitory period.

“Strikes, dharnas, rallies, bandhs or any meeting of four or more persons is hereby banned during the period,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Arunachal Pradesh unit of All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) on Friday made it clear that the ruling Congress has to perform in the greater interest of the state if it wishes to get unconditional support of the party.

“If they (Congress) fail to do so, the AITC would be forced to withdraw its support and work as an opposition in the state though the party is an ally of the UPA government at the Centre with the largest number of MPs,” AITC state president Toko Sheetal said.

She said that the state unit as well as party chief Mamata Banerjee would take up with the state and central leaders, particularly Congress president Sonia Gandhi, for expediting the process of development of the underdeveloped landlocked state in a transparent manner. (PTI)
