SHILLONG: Lajong coach Pradyum Reddy said the match against East Bengal was expected to be a tough one and it is important that the team moves on to focus on the matches to come.

“We had our share of opportunities but could not capitalise on them. East Bengal started well and scored a fantastic goal,” Reddy said.

Lajong had a major setback when defender Zohmingliana Ralte was given a red card in the 25th minute. The decision though seemed a bit harsh by the official. Later when John Menyongar was tripped near the box, the team from Shillong was denied a penalty. “Such things do happen and we have to cope with situations like these where the decision of the referee affects the outcome of the match,” Reddy said.

The Lajong coach was also concerned about the injuries plaguing the team.

“We started with one central defender, the team was also short of midfielders,” he said.
