2 youths killed in Hisar

HISAR (HARYANA): Two youths were killed after an altercation at a marriage ceremony in Shiv Colony Saturday night, police said on Sunday. Jatinder and Sumit were killed by a group of youths with sharp-edged weapon after an altercation between them over DJ dancing at the marriage ceremony. Police later booked about twelve people in this connection and started investigation. (UNI)

DMK man attacks AIADMK youth

TIRUCHIRAPALLI (TN): Police arrested a former Councillor of the Tiruchirapalli City Corporation belonging to the DMK for allegedly attacking an AIADMK youth wing functionary at Suburban Crawford here on Sunday. Police said former Councillor Krapetty Selvam attacked Anand, an AIADMK Youth Wing Functionary with a sickle in which he received bleeding injuries to his shoulder. On information, police rushed to the spot and sent the injured to the hospital and attempted to secure Selvam, which was resisted by a group of DMK men. However, police chased away the supporters and took him to the police station. Selvam’s wife Kavitha was the DMK sitting councillor in the Tiruchirapalli Corporation. (UNI)

6 students, teacher drown

ELURU (AP): In a tragic incident, six students, including two girls, of a school and a lady teacher drowned in River Godavari at Kakaraparru Village in Paravalli Mandal of West Godavari District on Sunday. Police said as many as 55 students of AKPV High School in Tanuku Town, went on a picnic to a garden on the banks of the river. A group of students went into the river and drowned and the teacher who went to their rescue also suffered the similar fate. The body of Mohan, a class IX student, was found at the banks of the river. Police said rescue teams were pressed in service to retrieve the bodies. The police had given names of the victims as M Lakshmi Prasanna(teacher), Rajeshwari, Sunitha, Mohan, Venkatesh, Shivarama Krishna and Venkata Ramana. A report from Hyderabad said Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy expressed shock over the tragic incident. The Chief Minister asked the District Collector take necessary assistance on war footing, an official release said. The Chief Minister also conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members of the victims, the release added. (UNI)

Seven killed, 32 injured in mishap

SABARKANTHA (GUJARAT): Seven people, including four women and a child, were killed and 32 others injured when a bus overturned near hear after a tyre burst and fell into a gorge, police said. “Seven persons were killed and 32 others injured when a bus en route to Gujarat from Rajasthan overturned near Idar and fell into a gorge,” they said. The mishap took place yesterday when the driver of the bus lost control over the vehicle after a tyre burst and it fell into a gorge. Seven people died on the spot, while the injured were rushed to a nearby hospital. (PTI)

Conductor crushed to death

SUPAUL (BIHAR): A truck conductor was crushed to death while he was giving direction to the driver for parking the vehicle at a proper location near Bhawanipur village under Pratapganj police station in the district on Sunday. Police said the driver of the vehicle lost his control and crushed the conductor of the vehicle while he was giving direction for proper parking near Bhawanipur village. Driver managed to escape from the spot in panic after the incident. The body has been sent for postmortem, police said, adding the truck was off-loading stone chips near under construction building in Bhawanipur village. (UNI)

Loot case unearthed, 4 arrested

HAZARIBAGH: Police unearthed a case of loot of Rs 25 lakhs from a Ramgarh based coal trader and arrested four miscreants, including driver of the trader in this district. Superintendent of Police Pankaj Kambouj on Sunday said driver of the coal trader identified as Anil Kumar was also involved in the crime conducted by altogether seven miscreants. Mr Kambouj said a sum of Rs 2.8 lakhs, vehicle used in the crime have also been recovered and added three other miscreants were still absconding. (UNI)

 Car, truck collide; 4 killed

JAIPUR: Four people, including two women, were killed and two injured in a head-on collision between their car and a truck in Rajasthan’s Nagaur district on Sunday. The victims were on their way to Sikar district when the incident occurred near Deedwana town, police said. Among the dead were two women, they said. (PTI)
