Dorbar condemns allegations against cement plants

 JOWAI: The Dorbar Elaka Narpuh has strongly condemned the NCP and JYF for allegations against cement plants operational under Narpuh Elaka.

The meeting of the Dorbar Elaka Narpuh under the leadership of the Dolloi, Manbha Kyndoh held recently thoroughly discussed the matter relating to allegation made by NCP and JYF as appeared in sections of media against all cement plants in Jaintia Hills district.

“The Dorbar Elaka Narpuh strongly condemned the claims of NCP and JYF as their allegations are baseless and they have no idea about the area and unnecessarily blamed all cement companies under Elaka Narpuh”, said a press release issued here.

The Dorbar Elaka informed that all Cement plants have obtained NOC from headmen and Dolloi of the Elaka Narpuh and set up their plants in private individual land by obtaining the land holding certificate from Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council.

“With the coming up of cement plants in Elaka Narpuh, the local people have immensely benefited. Some of the people are supplying materials while others have got direct or indirect employment.

Some are engaged in supplying of river sand, hill sand, metal, limestone, coal etc to the cement plants and are earning their livelihood besides being appointed as employees of different cement plants” the Dorbar Elaka stated adding that all cement companies under Narpuh Elaka have contributed towards the welfare of various villages through their social responsibility program.

Trust gives financial help:The Nangroilang Charitable Trust, a trust supported by the Unitarian Church, Puriang and the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Fairfax Virginia on Monday extended financial support to 20 residents of Puriang village.

The trust which started in 2007 has been able to provide financial support to more than 50 residents in the village till date.

20 people of the village including children, men and women were presented with a financial support by the Sordar of the village council, Atlas Kharlukhi.

Speaking on the occasion the headman of the village lauded the Trust for the support extended.

Complaint against dice gambling and bull fights: Concerned over illegal dice gambling and bull fights organised by a group of businessmen in Jaintia Hills district, the Jaintia Youth Federation (JYF) has lodged a police complaint demanding immediate arrest of those organising such illegal business.

The complaint was lodged with Jowai police and Phramer Traffic Police against such activities in various places in Jaintia Hills. Dice gambling and bull fights were openly organised along the National highway in Soomer (4th Miles) and Hynniawmer (7th miles) attracting hundreds of people.

The JYF said that it is embarrasing for the district that the activities were conducted openly in public places. “We have received several complaints from people of the district in this regard and we decided to lodge a police complaint against the organizers”, JYF publicity secretary, PP Lyngdoh said.

The JYF President, P Majaw informed that soon a complaint will also be lodged with the Divisional Forest Officer, Wild life Division, Jowai.

Demand for closure of illegal wine stalls: The Jaintia Youth Federation (JYF), Eastern Jaintia Hills has demanded clossing down of all illegal wine stalls doing business within Khliehriat Civil Sub-Division in Jaintia Hills district.

In a letter to the Superintendent of Excise, the JYF-EJH informed that the easy availability of IMFL liquor in these illegal wines stall has badly affected the society and demanded immediate action to close down all such wine stalls.

The wine stalls are also the root cause of all kinds of crimes in the area.

Three arrested in rape, looting case:Three persons were arrested by Ladrymbai police in connection with rape and looting case in Jaintia Hills.

Police on Monday arrested one Pura Bhoi of Borato village from Moolamanoh village. Bhoi was found absconding after he allegedly raped a girl of Borato village.

Police also arrested two persons identified as Imon Rymbai of Lama village and Deimon Dhar of Kyndongtuber village for their alleged involvement in attempt to loot a petrol pump at Takniang, Tuberkmai shnong village recently.
